Gathering Prey Book Review
This story shows how vexed Lucas Davenport is with the system of bureaucracy.
The BCA office is worried about paying overtime and travel bills for the team even when they risk their lives to capture psycho killers and put in all of their lives into the jobs. He is depressed with the way the system works.
In this plot, Lucas and his friends (Jenkins, Shrake, Del Capslock and Virgin Flowers) work on various cases. But, when Letty seeks his help, he goes on a mission to help her solve something.
This book has a group of psycho killers that travels all over the United States and causes trouble all over the states.
The killers are led by a crazy man who teaches them false beliefs. It is like a cult who fear that the end of the world is near and think that following the leader is the only way to save themselves.
The Letty Show
Letty Davenport makes friends with two ‘travelers’, who move around places doing any job to earn money for their basic needs like playing music on the street.
When one of the friends goes missing, the other traveler seeks help from Letty, who is the only friend for that traveler.
The author shows Letty’s compassionate side when she takes care of the travelers, as well as her fierce cop like attitude when she goes out on her own to face a dangerous group of killers, to help her friend.
Lucas Davenport
Lucas is very worried about Letty and is angry that the psycho killers are still on the loose. He works smoothly with inter-state police officers to hunt down the killers and the action forms a major part of this book.
On the other hand, Lucas faces heat from his supervisor and finally takes a happy decision to quit BCA instead of working with people who only think about their own bread and butter.
The Verdict
The author shows how group mentality works, how crazy people can mislead other equally or even crazier people, how they commit crimes and how they unbelievably get away with it.
The story is not a heart-stopping kind of book like some of the other ‘Prey‘ novels, but Gathering Prey is a good time pass idea for a free day. A good read for crime-fiction lovers.
